#hgd13 – a grand day out
I fully expected that going to the Chartered Institute of Housing’s ‘Housing Goes Digital’ event earlier this week in Liverpool was going to be inspiring, and I wasn’t let down at all.
It was great being able to talk all things digital during the day, with sufficient challenge from the speakers, including @nickatkin_hht, @paulbromford, @annemcx, @asifchoudry and @leachdj . You can see their prezi’s/presentations by clicking here. You can also see the Storify created for #hgd13 with lots of the tweets sent on the day by clicking here.
@nickatkin_hht informed us that with the 45 attendees at the event, by the end of the event we had reached 15,000 Twitter accounts with the #hgd13 tweets! The #hgd13 event managed to trend in Liverpool on the day as well!!
The #hgd13 event was as digital as possible, with everything from the timetable to the feedback form being accessed on-line. As I have effectively been paperless for the past 3 years, this was my kind of event!
A few quotes from the day have particularly stuck in my mind.
One was by Paul Taylor from Bromford who said that Bromford had been doing their digital work ‘for about 2½ years’, which frankly astonishes me. To think of what they have achieved in this relatively short timeframe is nothing short of amazing.
The other is that as a sector we (Housing) are only at the start of our digital journey, which gives me hope that we’ve not been left too far behind the progress made so far.
Ultimately I’ve come away from the event refreshed, re-energised and excited about what I and our organisation can do to improve our digital offering to both our customers and staff.
The final thought was really one of challenge and it came from Nick Atkin. What are you going to do following today? I for one have gone back to my organisation with renewed vigour that we can become a more digitally included organisation in the future if we drive this shift now. As Nick Atkin said in his last Prezi:
